Era-Fusing Film Trailers

The Great Gatsby Movie Promo is Out and Glitzy

The greatly anticipated Great Gatsby movie promo has been released and is incredibly intense and luxurious from first viewing. With the super star-studded cast, the Baz Lurhmann-directed trailer is truly going to be get people excited for next winter. What's standing out most for many, however, is the perfectly executed mix of era influences here, as while the aesthetics of the trailer are accurate for the 1920s, its soundtrack is very right now.

Based on the classic novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the 1920s love story is set to be a huge hit. Played by Leonardo DiCaprio, Gatsby is the epitome of the 1920s extravagant millionaire. Alongside Tobey Maguire (Nick Carraway) and Carey Mulligan (Daisy Buchanan), DiCaprio's leading role is sure to arouse some critics, but could be another giant leap for his already extraordinary career.

With the modern soundtrack (Jack White and Kanye West thus far), the film is setting itself up to be epic, much like the book it was derived from.
