Glowtile by Leucos Forms Modular Illuminated Wall Panels
Amy Duong — March 11, 2026 — Art & Design
The Glowtile by Leucos is a modular lighting system that transforms ceramic tiles into illuminated wall installations. The Glowtile by Leucos combines glazed ceramic tiles with hand-blown glass elements and anodized aluminum hardware, allowing individual tiles to function as both decorative surfaces and light sources. Each tile houses a small bulb encased in egg-shaped glass, producing a soft glow that spreads across the ceramic surface while highlighting its three-dimensional geometry.
The tiles can be arranged in different configurations to create wall compositions that function as both lighting and architectural decoration. Ceramic surfaces reflect and diffuse the light from the bulbs, creating shifting shadows and luminous patterns across the wall depending on placement and viewing angle. The modular system allows designers to build installations of varying scale, from small clusters to large illuminated panels that operate as wall-mounted lighting artworks.

Trend Themes
-
Modular Illuminated Surfaces — A movement toward tile-sized, reconfigurable lighting elements that double as decorative architecture suggests new possibilities for scalable, customizable wall lighting systems.
-
Material-integrated Lighting — Embedding light sources within traditional finishes like glazed ceramic points to a future where materials themselves act as diffuse, tunable luminaires.
-
Customizable Architectural Light Art — Increasing interest in wall-mounted lighting installations that merge craft techniques with engineered hardware indicates demand for bespoke, large-scale luminous artwork.
Industry Implications
-
Interior Design — Design practices could be reshaped by treatment of walls as active light-emitting surfaces that influence spatial mood and visual texture.
-
Hospitality and Leisure — Boutique hotels and high-end restaurants may pursue integrated illuminated tile installations to create immersive, brand-differentiating environments.
-
Smart Building Materials — The convergence of ceramics, optics, and modular hardware highlights potential for new material product lines that incorporate lighting functionality into structural finishes.
