Elephantine Pumpkin Carvings

This Giant Pumpkin Carving Raises Awareness About African Elephants

This year for Halloween, Pumpkin Sculpt USA created an awesome giant pumpkin carving for the Bronx Zoo and 96 Elephants in order to raise awareness about the elephants that are killed for their ivory tusks every day.

The massive pumpkin carving weighs in at about 400 kg and involved sculpting several large gourds into this amazing elephant creature. As an organization, 96 Elephants gets its name from the 96 African Elephants that are killed every day for ivory and aims to get people to help decrease the demand for ivory products. Although the sculpture is quite playful and cute, depicting a small elephant playing with butterflies, it's notable that this pumpkin elephant doesn't have any tusks.
