The Ghost Market film follows Kyle, a teenager from Chicago who discovers a hidden plate-lunch restaurant on Oʻahu's North Shore that serves spirits waiting to move on. Announced at D23 2026, the original animated feature is scheduled for a theatrical release in spring 2028. The story centers on ʻOno Market, a supernatural eatery that remains concealed from the living until Kyle accidentally enters after searching for food during a family vacation. Pixar describes the project as its first feature built specifically around ghosts, separating its setting from the afterlife worlds explored in earlier films.
Trevor Jimenez directs alongside Jesse Andrews, with Becky Neiman-Cobb producing the feature. The project was previously reported as Ono Ghost Market, a Disney+ series before being redeveloped as a theatrical film under its current title. Pete Docter introduced the first footage during Disney's D23 presentation.
