SakéOne and Kitaoka Honten Collaborate on SHEZEN
Beverage importer and producer SakéOne has announced a partnership with the Japanese brewery Kitaoka Honten to introduce a new line of fruit-infused sakés to the American market. The spirit in question is named SHEZEN.
The fruit-infused sakés are distinguished by the use of whole, fresh fruit. The ingredients are manually processed — washed, peeled, and seeded — before being incorporated into the saké using a sterilization technique designed to preserve natural flavors and colors. The initial roll-out of the fruit-infused saké range includes five varieties — Mango, Strawberry, Peach, Shiso (an herb), and Kiwi, with the latter utilizing kiwis exclusively from Japan.
The brewery emphasizes its commitment to sustainability by sourcing fruit that would otherwise be discarded for cosmetic reasons and its location in a historically significant region for saké production.
