Fingerprint authentication is leading the way in biometric security around the world, so the Synaptics Fingerprint Reader is designed to help bring it to nearly any system desired. Featuring the brand's 'Natural ID' fingerprint authentication, the device could be plugged into a USB port like a thumbdrive and utilized as a form of granting access to users.
Fingerprint scanners have become commonplace on smartphones and were previous in use on a variety of PC systems. However, the technology has appeared to be dwindling on computer systems recently, which could perhaps mean that new authentication technology is in the works.
The Synaptics Fingerprint Reader is set to be sampled by companies starting in the third quarter of 2016 with mass production shipments likely ready by end of year.
