In an attempt to add more healthy food items to its menu, eatery chain Wendy's is testing out the all-new Mediterranean Salad in several locations that offers consumers a wholesome alternative to burgers and fries that is packed with protein. The salad is filled with veggies, meats and toppings inspired by the Balkan regions.

While Wendy's does already include several healthy items on its menu, the Mediterranean Salad is a unique choice that offers a large serving of protein. The salad is topped with regionally inspired items such as hummus, feta, tomatoes, onions, zucchini and squash in addition to ingredients rich in protein such as quinoa, garbanzo beans, brown rice and chicken. For those searching for a vegetarian option, the salad without the chicken is still a protein-filled meal.
