Researchers at the University of Leeds are developing a completely adjustable artificial LCD eye lens. These lenses will be able to replace presbyopic lenses used by middle-aged and senior persons whose eye lenses become stiffer and less flexible once.
The technology is being developed and refined in collaboration with UltraVision CLPL, a company that focuses on manufacturing specialized contact lenses. It is expected that these LCD eye lenses will be available for sale on the wider market within the next decade. This amazing technology is sure to provide a lot of relief and added convenience for people suffering from presbyopia.
There have been a few developments in the field of artificial eye lenses, but these ones are unique in that they can cure long-sightedness that occurs as a result of natural aging.
