The system is inspired by the electric bike market and features skis equipped with a removable gearless hub motor along with a 220Wh lithium battery pack. The skis will utilize a splittable snowmobile-like rubber tread to move the skier up to 80% faster, while also making slope up to 30% easier for them to traverse.
The E-Skimo electric-assist system features a six-axis motion sensing inertial measurement unit (IMU) along wit ha GPS module to help explorers get going as quickly as possible. The brand plans to partner with existing ski manufacturers rather than sell direct to consumers.
