Sonos announces its new launch comprised of two smart speakers -- the Era 100 and the Era 300. Kicking off with the Era 30 smart speaker is notably the first speaker by the company to offer spatial audio, which simulates the feeling of being surrounded by multiple audio sources, similar to being in a recording studio.
It uses Dolby Atmos surround sound technology to achieve this result. Head of hardware design Dana Krieger explains that "Era 300 has a very distinct tapered hourglass form. That's the best way to deliver spatial audio. Our mission with the design was to make sure that it lives in someone's home in as simple a way as possible." The Era 100 is much more compact and is essential an update of the Sonos One speaker.
