Appreciating all that nature has to offer is given a whole new meaning at the Elqui Domos Astronomical Hotel. Built on a stunning site surrounded by valleys, mountains and the occasional shrubbery, its key feature is the ability to stargaze at night. The remote area happens to be renowned for its sharp, clear skies. To fully embrace this asset, the hotel is made up of single wooden-structured cabins finished with translucent fabric domes to encourage the eyes to remain upturned.
Designed by Rodrigo Duque Motta, the Elqui Domos Astronomical Hotel is located in Pisco Elqui, Paiguano, Coquimbo Region, Chile. The structures themselves are fairly straightforward and plain, which allows them to blend into the dry landscape. Inside, however, the cabins are airy, minimalist and modern, offering a nice reprieve from the harsh environment outside.
