The conceptual 'Elepsy' food sanitizer is a kitchen appliance for the post-pandemic world that would provide consumers with a way to effectively wash their produce upon purchase to ensure that it's free from bacteria and germs before consumption.
The appliance utilizes a dual-stage process that will clean produce using a carafe for water, a sanitization unit and an outer tray for storage after cleaning. The system puts a focus on a design-conscious aesthetic that can be easily left out on the counter between uses without looking out of place or taking up too much space.
The conceptual 'Elepsy' food sanitizer is the design work of Sinan Altun, Yilin Lyu and Yuchen Lan of the Umeå Institute of Design, and was created in collaboration with appliance brand Electrolux.
