Wind Bags recycles used feed and seed bags by crafting them into durable, reusable, attractive shopping and utility totes. The square bottom facilitates loading by making the bag easy to stand up and the rope handles make it easy to carry. The name comes from the fact that the totes are made in an off-the-grid shop that runs on wind and solar power in Central Oregon.

Clean, heavy plastic woven seed or feed bags can be donated for recycling on the Simple Family Living website. I’ve sent dog food and bird seed bags myself. You have to be sure to pull the string that releases the seal on the bag, however, as cutting will not allow it to be repurposed as a tote.
