Sports brand adidas and organization Parley for the Oceans have a long-lasting relationship, based on sustainability advocacy, and this year they are kicking off a fashion-forward Earth Day initiative. In order to expand their reach, the collaborators have partnered with Major League Soccer to "encourage the soccer community to create a cleaner, healthier environment."
Essentially, the Earth Day initiative will be in the spirit of previous adidas and Parley for the Oceans collaborations. In order to raise awareness about the harmful impact of marine plastic pollution -- not only on aquatic life but on the environment in general, the Major League Soccer team will sport Parley kits on Earth Day weekend (April 20th until April 22nd). The jerseys are made of upcycled plastic, found on beaches and in nearby coastal communities.
