The Durham Performing Arts Center is a monolithic theater space which successfully blends economical design with eco-friendly concern.
With a price tag that came in just over 46 million, the Durham Performing Arts Center cost roughly half of what the average theater space of its size is built for in the US. In addition to being cost-effective, however, the theater was also built on an old industrial brownfield and makes use of extensive eco-passive design in order to minimize its need for artificial lighting, ventilation, and heating.
