With so many services that make it possible for couples to customize their wedding bands, but the idea of making DIY wedding rings isn't outrageous at all. However, the Oldfield Forge Academy takes the idea to the next level by having couples forge their own.

As part of a Couples Retreat package, the academy lets couples create their own wedding rings over the course of about five hours, guided by the assistance of a blacksmith. After creating the rings that symbolize a special bond, couples can enjoy lunch, dinner and a few drinks at local pubs, as well as check into a nearby luxury accommodations.

Now that the mass customization of products is becoming less desirable than something crafted completely to one's own specifications, consumers are seeking services like this one to express themselves through objects that are full of sentimentality and special meaning.
