Supermassive Games Announced 'Directive 8020' for a 2026 Release

Directive 8020 is the fifth installment in Supermassive Games’ The Dark Pictures Anthology, presented as a third-person, narrative-driven survival-horror experience. Set on the colony ship Cassiopeia, the game tasks players with controlling five crewmembers who must navigate the crash-landed vessel on Tau Ceti f while evading a shape-shifting alien organism. Directive 8020 supports branching storylines, quick-time events, and stealth-focused gameplay, and is built in Unreal Engine 5 for release on Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with a planned launch date of October 2, 2025.

In July 2025, Supermassive Games announced the decision to postpone Directive 8020’s release to the first half of 2026. The studio indicated that the additional development time would help ensure the title meets quality expectations and delivers the intended cinematic horror experience, while confirming that these changes would not affect the concurrent development of Little Nightmares III.
