Saros, the upcoming game from Housemarque, is set to be released in 2026 for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro. The game builds on the roguelite foundations established in Housemarque's previous title, Returnal, while introducing new gameplay elements and a fresh narrative. Players will assume the role of Arjun Devraj, a powerful Soltari Enforcer, as he searches for answers on a dangerous, shifting planet called Carcosa. The game features a haunting story of a lost off-world colony under an ominous eclipse, promising a deep and emotional character study.
A key distinction between Saros and Returnal is the permanent progression system. Unlike Returnal, where resources reset after each run, Saros allows players to retain and upgrade their weapons and suit enhancements, enabling them to "come back stronger" after each death. The world will change upon the player's death, adding a dynamic element to the gameplay. Housemarque aims to create an engaging and challenging experience that evolves their signature third-person action and mysterious storytelling.
