The Dim Sum Easy Chair is a Cozy Oscillating Scoop for a Weary Sitter
Amelia Roblin — September 10, 2012 — Art & Design
The stereotypical rocking chair might be an old worn wooden seat, making the Dim Sum Easy Chair appear completely alien by comparison. Of course, the unusual sitting object takes a form quite unusual among even stationary chairs, embodying a bold shape and punchy colors.
The Montis piece sits directly on top of a pair of smooth wooden rockers, stained in a gorgeous dark brown hue but quite subtle in appearance. It's possible that you would take a seat without first recognizing the armchair's ability to sway.
Designer Simon Pengelly modeled a very modern and atypical bottom-heavy form for the Dim Sum Easy Chair. It's comfortably padded above its base, over the armrests and up its slender tapering backrest. The overall image resembles the spoon one uses to eat Chinese food.
