iOS 27.2 adds a new automation trigger to Apple’s Shortcuts app, allowing users to run actions when their iPhone is opened or closed. Apple has also expanded the Use Model action, which can now retrieve current web information in five more languages, including French and Spanish.
The update brings several smaller changes to existing automations and the editing experience. Workout automations can now use information from the Fitness app, while Weather automations can identify which app was closed. On macOS, users can customise the editor layout through new Show Actions and Show Describe a Shortcut menu options. iPhone and iPad users can also change shortcut names and icons directly from their library.
Together, the changes give users more ways to build and manage automations across Apple devices. The additional language support also extends the Use Model action beyond English, opening up more possibilities for AI-assisted shortcuts.
