A new bot named 'DeepDrumpf' uses Donald Trump's own words to create Twitter posts. The bot announced its bid for election and launched a GoFundMe for campaign donations which go towards supporting girls in STEM studies.
DeepDrumpf was created at MIT by postdoc candidate Brad Hayes. Hayes selected Trump as the speech pattern to be replicated by the bot given the simplicity of Trump's vocabulary and sentence structure. DeepDrumpf is capable of generating tweets that replicate the patterns of Trump's actual speech. The bot has garnered over 27,000 followers while generating 250 tweets.
Hayes is now using the bot to raise money for the nonprofit, GirlsWhoCode, which seeks to address the gender gap in STEM studies.
