After successfully launching its first Day of the Dead doll in 2019, Mattel created a new edition in time for the Mexican holiday's 2020 celebrations, which was designed by Javier Meabe.
The new Barbie doll is outfitted in a beautiful traditional gown, with the elegant lace dress artfully embroidered with intricate flower and skull designs. The doll also wears large golden earrings and a crown of roses, and is shown with Calavera face paint.
In an Instagram post that promotes the doll, Mattel writes "Barbie celebrates the time-honored tradition of #DiaDeMuertos with a new collectible doll honoring the symbols and rituals of the holiday. From the delicate lace embroidered dress, to the captivating calavera face paint, the #Barbie Día de Muertos doll pays tribute to the customs of families around the world."
