If you have a smartphone data plan, chances are you've suffered the ignominy and annoyance of going over your stipulated data plan because of background apps, which is why Google is unveiling a new data-saving app.

Dubbed Triangle, this data-saving app is designed to help you deduce how much app you're using, while helping you ascertain which apps are the most notorious in sucking up data.

Currently being tested in the Philippines, the Triangle app features a handy and appropriately named "Data Saver" feature which places a time limit on apps' data usage, preventing needless wastage of data.

Given that data management is one of the major problems featuring smartphone users today, this data-saving app could come as a godsend to Android users.
