Cymatic Champagne Sculptures

Iris van Herpen Transforms Vineyard Sounds Into Sculptures And Champa

Maison Perrier-Jouët has partnered with Dutch designer Iris van Herpen on a collection that transforms vineyard sounds into visual forms. Titled Symphonic Bloom and Symphonic Life, the project uses cymatics, the process of making sound vibrations visible, to inspire a sculpture, a redesigned champagne bottle and a gift box.

Symphonic Bloom features a jeroboam of Perrier-Jouët Belle Époque 1988 surrounded by silk and recycled 22-carat gold. Symphonic Life takes the concept further with a series of 10 pieces designed around magnums of Belle Époque 1999. Van Herpen also worked with cellar master Séverine Frerson on a Belle Époque 2018 bottle presentation that reflects the champagne’s floral notes and texture.

The collection is being presented at events including Tokyo Gendai, The Peninsula Paris and Design Miami, bringing together champagne, fashion and collectible design. Drawing on cymatics and Art Nouveau influences, the collaboration offers a new interpretation of the house’s Belle Époque range through sculptural forms and bespoke packaging.
