On several occasions, Trend Hunter has touched upon the subject of how the present economic crisis has affected the fashion industry; Takahiro Miyashita’s outlandish Fall 2009 collection for Number (N)ine could very easily be construed as being a product of that crisis--even if only symbolically.
Miyashita’s curious creations remind me of the mismatched wardrobe of the homeless population that exists in all of the big cities in the USA.
But in addition to the mismatched clothes, all the male models in this collections are wearing frilly, beekeeper-like black veils which give these quirky creations a sense of darkness and mystery.
