Accident-Averting Crowd Simulators

This Mitsubishi Algorithm Predicts Crowd Movements Near Venues

Mitsubishi Electric has come up with an innovative new simulator technology that is capable of analyzing data in order to predict crowd movements around public venues and other crowded areas, something which could prove very useful in preventing stampedes and accidents.

Developed as part of a collaboration with the Tokyo University Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology, the simulator makes use of a special algorithm that is capable of calculating crowd flow by taking into account video streams from surveillance cameras. The simulator is capable of predicting crowd movements using mathematical and behavioral models. The results can then be used by security authorities to take preventative measures to ease congestion.

This crowd movement simulator is a wonderful technology that could be used worldwide to prevent unfortunate accidents that occur due to out-of-control crowds.
