These creative family photos were taken as part of a photographic series by Susan Copich. The morbid photography project Domestic Bliss reveals the photographer's darker side by contrasting a bright and cheery scene at home with an often murderous element. Copich plays a cathartic role and is often photographed with her husband and two young daughters.
Copich explains how she comes up with the concepts behind her pictures "I dwell in the dark thoughts and recesses of my mind to create character and subject in order to project them into a frozen moment of time." She also makes use of "American proverbs, idioms and old biblical sayings as a spring board to each dramatic set-up" in the series.
Domestic Bliss is currently exhibiting at Umbrella Arts in New York City until November 29th.
