Apple recently updated the Apple Maps navigation app to make it easier for users to find COVID-19 testing locations. Now health care providers have the option to add COVID-19 testing locations to the platform through a portal on the app. Testing sites listed on the platform will also inform a patient about the requirements for an appointment, and they type of test. Apple Maps will also inform the user if the facility is a drive-through location or a physical building.
The number of facilities listed on the platform will depend on engagement form healthcare workers, as they will have to provide the information to Apple Maps. However, it is clear that Apple is looking to provide its users with the relevant testing information, as it can help individuals get tested for the virus.
