A law in Indonesia called, 'Couples Caring for the Environment,' mandates that newly married couples plant and care for trees. The idea behind the initiative is to reforest Indonesia in the aftermath of agricultural clearing.

Indonesia's West Java province enacted the Couples Caring for the Environment law to help in the reclamation efforts. One report says couples must plant five trees at their wedding, another says ten at the wedding and fifty more if the couple divorces.
