Design firm RT&A teamed with R. Trevino for an ad campaign for Comex. The ads are incredibly simple but at the same time quirky and effective.
The Comex advertisements feature iconic cartoon characters blending in with the background, because Comex was able to match the paint colors just that well. With Homer Simpson, Garfield and a Smurf, the designs are great because you know who they are without seeing more than their eyes and hair.
Implications - New businesses can attract consumers with the use of familiar imagery and public figures in advertising and branding. The use of a popular franchise's images will appeal to buyers outside of the company's traditional market, and allow the business to connect with a younger audience. Further, companies will appear up to speed with pop culture.
