Upgraded Secondary School Designs

Salem Architecture Upgrades Collège Reine-Marie

Salem Architecture has completed an expansion and redevelopment project for Collège Reine-Marie, a secondary school in Montreal. This initiative focused on delivering a new student entrance and an upgraded fitness facility.

The architectural intervention addresses the functional and symbolic needs of Collège Reine-Marie by replacing an outdated entrance with a universally accessible pathway sheltered under a new wooden canopy. The approach carefully navigates around an existing mature tree and incorporates a curved concrete bench and planted borders. The extension is clad in durable, eco-friendly reconstituted stone that harmonizes with the existing school building, while colored glass panels in the glazing introduce vibrancy tied to the school's identity. Internally, the new training area replaces the old locker rooms. The fitness facility now features high ceilings, exposed structural elements, and a color scheme that reflects the school's athletic spirit.
