Online Exploitation Education Courses

Childhelp and Meta Launch a Free Educational Curriculum

Childhelp, in partnership with Meta, has launched a free, Meta-funded curriculum designed to help middle schoolers recognize and respond to online dangers like grooming and sextortion scams. This initiative empowers schools, parents, and organizations with essential tools to keep kids safe in an increasingly digital world.

Developed with leading child safety experts -- including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, Thorn, and Purdue University -- the curriculum features lesson plans, interactive activities, and educational videos aimed at equipping kids with the skills to navigate both online and offline risks. By fostering awareness and critical thinking, the program helps young users stay vigilant against online exploitation.

As lawmakers push for stronger child protection laws, Meta has been enhancing its safety measures, from making teen accounts more private on Instagram to introducing safeguards against sextortion scams. However, education remains a crucial piece of the puzzle. With Childhelp’s curriculum available at no cost, families and educators now have a powerful resource to help young people recognize online threats and protect themselves.
