Charlotte Jonckheer's 'Chaud' Tables Feature Unique Materials

Belgian designer Charlotte Jonckheer designed two side tables entitled 'Chaud' from stone, recycled paper and stone dust materials. The surface features the hard stone construction and it rests on a recycled paper foundation -- the supporting legs are made from stone dust. The name, Chaud, is also representative of the paper and stone composite materials that the designer used to create the pieces. This material was born when Jonckheer researched the use of outdoor materials, resulting into something that is both warm and soft texturally.
The result is what she calls Chaud, a handmade material that is made by compressing paper pulp and stone dust together. While the composite is still damp, it can be reconfigured into any structure with the assistance of a mold -- once dried, it becomes a pale stone design.
