Mindful Tech Product Certifications

Calm Tech Certified™ May Boost Consumer Loyalty and Trust

Calm Tech Certified™ is a new product accreditation that tech brands can strive to achieve. The program seeks to address the negative psychological effects that modern technology can have on people.

Calm Tech Certified™ evaluates tech on its "use of attention, periphery, robustness, light, sound, and material use." The aim is to determine whether the product "works with [the user's] attention, instead of against it." Upon assessment, the organization will identify areas of excellence and improvement, either acknowledging tech products with its certification or providing a detailed roadmap for applicants to work toward getting the certification.

Some Calm Tech Certified™ include Unpluq, a keychain tag with NFCC connectivity that "locks" selected apps during a designated time period, and a 60 Hz E-Paper computer with a more human-friendly interface.
