Perfect for dinner or lunch, the butternut squash macaroni and cheese calls for ingredients such as dry pasta (shells work well), onion, garlic, fresh thyme, flour, milk, unsalted butter, kosher salt, grated sharp cheddar cheese, canned butternut squash (canned pumpkin would also work), dijon mustard, nutmeg, cayenne pepper and freshly ground black pepper. The bread crumb topping consists of fresh bread crumbs plus chopped fresh sage, grated parmesan cheese, unsalted butter, kosher salt and more black pepper.
