LOUIS XIII's BLACK PEARL Recreates Cellar Atmosphere

LOUIS XIII created BLACK PEARL: TRIBUTE TO THE BIRTHPLACE OF LOUIS XIII as a sensory recreation of Le Grollet, featuring an eau-de-vie selected by Cellar Master Baptiste Loiseau and an individual cooling cellar that holds each decanter at a minimum of 13°C. The expression is presented in a midnight-blue reimagined decanter and designed to be tasted as it warms in the glass.

Loiseau infused the chosen eau-de-vie into a single hand-selected tierçon from Le Grollet to strengthen the physical link to the cellar. The release is limited to 398 decanters and carries a $28,000 price; it also includes by-the-glass service to stage the temperature-driven progression. The cooling cellar shifts temperature from restraint to reveal successive aromatic layers.

The Cognac shows beeswax, honey, precious wood and patchouli, and warming opens additional aromatic architecture. Treating temperature as an ingredient makes tasting a timed, unfolding experience that translates the cellar’s atmosphere into the bottle.
