AI-Powered Visual Co-Pilots

The 'Biped' is a Backpack-Like Device for the Visually Impaired

During CES 2022, Swiss tech startup biped unveiled an innovative new device for the visually impaired: an AI-powered co-pilot system eponymously named 'biped.' The new device consists of a backpack-like design that straps onto a users shoulders and utilizes built-in 3D cameras.

Using its cameras, the biped is able to film and analyze a user's surroundings, detecting potential obstacles far in advance of their arrival. In addition, the unit can filter relevant information to users through 3D sounds, which are transmitted via unique bone conduction earphones.

According to the company, biped's mission was to create a stigma-free device that could provide the same kind of support as a guide dog. As a result, the unit features a sleek, non-medical design and weighs just 950 grams.
