Balanced Ritual Design Projects

Bindu Project Reimagines Daily Water Habits as Mindful Ceremonies

The Bindu design project invites us to rethink our bond with water by transforming everyday practices into gentle rituals. Led by Akhil Krishnan, it features three beautifully crafted objects: Pāvita, Sanchaya, and Kalasha, each guiding us toward awareness and respect for water’s role in life.

Pāvita reframes dishwashing with cork granules in place of water, drawing on practices from regions with water scarcity to inspire thoughtful consumption. Kalasha is a greywater vessel with terracotta and charcoal filters that let users reclaim water for reuse while ritualizing the act of conservation. Sanchaya captures cooking steam through a custom lid, allowing evaporated water to be collected and reused. Each object treats water as a living, sacred element rather than a mere utility, encouraging reflection in daily routines. Bindu blends Indigenous knowledge with ecological design, offering poetic tools that foster a respectful, intentional relationship with water.
