The Lily Device Brings Human Design to Chemo Hair-Loss Protection
The Lily device is a wearable helmet designed by Luminate Medical in collaboration with BLOND that helps reduce hair loss during chemotherapy through controlled scalp compression. Inspired by cycle helmets, its appearance feels familiar and approachable, helping patients feel less defined by their medical treatment.
Aesthetics were carefully considered, with thoughtful textures, a soft recycled PET felt shell, magnetic Velcro straps, and a compact carry case transforming Lily from a sterile piece of equipment into a personal wellness accessory. The design accommodates around 85 percent of head shapes and emphasizes usability and comfort, particularly for prolonged wear during and after infusion. By blending medical credibility with emotional sensitivity, Lily redefines what medical devices can offer, giving patients both functional support and a sense of control over their treatment experience.
