BIC Lamp by Seletti Reimagines the Classic Pen at Scale
BIC Lamp reimagines the classic BIC Cristal pen as oversized lighting presented as part of a design collaboration with Seletti. The lamps scale the familiar ballpoint pen form to a 12:1 ratio, retaining the hexagonal barrel, transparent body, and capped tip associated with the original writing instrument. Integrated LED lighting replaces the ink tube, running through the length of the pen-shaped structure. The collection includes floor lamps, pendant lights, and wall-mounted versions, each produced in colorways that mirror the pen’s traditional black, blue, and red inks. The lamps were unveiled during Maison&Objet 2026 in Paris.
The lighting pieces were developed in collaboration with Italian designer Mario Paroli and coincide with the 75th anniversary of the BIC Cristal pen, first introduced in 1950. Materials emphasize transparency and scale to preserve visual continuity with the original object. The lamps maintain recognizable proportions while functioning as illuminated fixtures intended for interior display and ambient lighting.
