Currently on display in Seattle is Haris Purnomo's creepy baby sculptures. The sculptures are life-sized and are cocooned in what seem to be baby blankets and webbed together like a baby cobweb.
While these sleeping babies are eerie and spooky in every way imaginable, Haris Purnomo has made it extremely hard to look away. The interesting exhibit can currently be seen at CoCA Ballard and CoCA Belltown until November 14th.
Implications - Despite the grotesque and shocking imagery Purnomo presents through sculpture, these works are inexplicably captivating. One has to wonder what the inspiration behind these quirky and unconventional sculptures was, but whatever it may be, the vision, talent and detailed execution behind them is undeniable to any art appreciating audience.
