‘Awful Drawings’ by Matthieu Barrere is a continuing art project that is far from awful. Instead, his work can easily be dubbed 'Hilarious' or 'Insightful Drawings' since they are both hilarious and insightful. Nevertheless, there is a hint of the awful eluded in the title, but it is entirely offset by the round of laughter each image induces. The French artist and humorist manages to make the dismal and impossible seem hopeful and possible.

Like one-off artworks that belong in the Sunday paper, Awful Drawings by Matthieu Barrere combines unique written observations with quirky illustrations. For instance, one artwork revolves around aliens reviewing the Earth, the comments of which are posted next to their profile pictures. According to Barrere, "Everything I see, hear, smell, taste, touch or feel, can—if I take enough time—help me uncover ideas."
