Doodled Autonomous Autos

Local Artists Use Drawings to Personalize Google's New Self-Driving Cars

Google has added a personalized touch to its recent line of autonomous autos by calling on local artists to personalize the vehicles with their own artistic interpretation. The end result was a series of the small smart cars entitled Paint the Town featuring doors with beautifully drawn illustrations of landscapes, flowers, crowds of people and more.

The Paint the Town project was an amazingly creative initiative by Google to incorporate the local community into the release of its new self-driving cars. The project asked artists, illustrators, designers and any creatives to send in their interpretations of the phrase, "my community, my neighbours." Ten finalists' designs were chosen and installed onto the doors of the vehicle prototypes. The illustrations capture a sense of community in a variety of styles and themes with an eclectic array of designs.
