On September 6th, Hyundai Motor Company will be hosting Re:Style, an upcycling fashion event showcasing the 15-piece automotive fashion collection created by Zero + Maria Cornejo using leftover materials from Hyundai car seats. The capsule collection is full of leftover leather and truly lets this material shine. As a brand, Zero + Maria Cornejo is known for making the most of natural dyes, natural silk and materials that require minimal oil as a way to conserve resources. For the project, Maria Cornejo describes that "It's about making something new and re-imagining things. Re-create, re-imagine, re-cycle," and asking "How do we get creative with less?"
At the Re:Style event, which kicks off on the first day of the 2020 S/S New York Fashion Week, guests will get to see an unlikely union between the automotive and fashion industries.
