Austin Young is a photographer based in Los Angeles. The 45-year-old artist was born in Reno, and picked up an eclectic taste for glamor. His work is a photojournalistic documentation of trans culture in New York City, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Young's work focuses on giving a loud and proud voice to the subculture.
Austin Young's collection 'Gender/Drag' features a series of portraits exploring the outlandish characters of Drag Queens and trans individuals. The works are electric, making use of bright cosmetics, somewhat erotic props and extreme displays of femininity. His subjects have featured such underground celebs as Fade-Dra, Jeffree Star, Chric Crocker and Miss Barbie Q.
Young's portrait work is explicit, engaging and extreme. The dynamic beauty of grand and drag individuals is more than fabulous -- it's real.
