Augmented Artwork Apps

This App Enhances Public Engagement With Vancouver's Voxel Bridge

Vancouver Biennale, a non-profit charitable organization that is dedicated to mounting eye-catching and thought-provoking outdoor artwork and sculptures in the Canadian city of Vancouver, has launched an innovative new artwork app that is designed to make it easier for art lovers to appreciate the temporary public artwork situated beneath the city's Cambie Bridge.

The 'Vancouver Biennale' artwork app enables anyone who has a smartphone to enjoy what is being dubbed the biggest augmented reality art experience of its kind, a 1,765-square-meter installation developed by celebrated artist Jessica Angel. The app lets you scan various markers placed under the bridge in order to activate animations.

Available for both the iOS and Android platforms, this app is a fine example of how art, augmented reality and public engagement can intersect in the mobile space.
