Arohana is an Indian social enterprise that works exclusively in the dairy farming industry in order to reduce labour dependency for the farmers. Through a mix of services including dairy farming, testing equipment, herd size, processing equipment, marketing and distribution, the team hopes to support local communities so that farmers can run a sustainable farm that is also financially viable. The volatility is something that can be controlled to an extent.
Typically, Indian farms operate as a second source of income with one to two animals but it's often difficult to compete with industrialized commercial dairy farms that are found in New Zealand and the United States. Arohana attempts to raise the farmer's income through training of certain technical means and also help to expand the herd size -- all this to bring the power to the producer.
