Armello is a digital card and board game, designed for the iPad, that merges fantasy adventure with political upheaval in the fairy-tale animal kingdom after which the game is named. The game combines the adventure of role-playing games with the complex strategy of card and board games.
The game's plot revolves around a power vacuum that arises after the ruler of the kingdom of Armello takes ill. Players must find a way to seize power before their rivals do. There are several possible routes to success, with players able to choose how they quest their way across the kingdom and how they take the throne. Players can challenge the ailing ruler, try to succeed him or call upon other, twisted ways of getting power into their own hands.
Players collect cards that represent things like spells, traps and followers which can be used to influence events. Cars can be combined to create a near-unlimited range of possibilities and unusual powers.
The game is being developed by aptly-named Australian collective League of Geeks.
