The design of the DUO Aquarium Garden enables you keep a pet and cultivate your own food at home, all in one clever contraption. Conceived by James Beardmore over the course of an eight-week development project, this innovative fish tank is a great example of how to initiate or enhance a green lifestyle.
This aquaponics system comprises a transparent container for housing one or several fish that can coexist in the same space, or live separately on either side of a removable central divider. The habitation of these scaly creatures kicks off a nitrogen cycle which helps to feed the roots of the vegetation planted above with rich natural fertilizing compounds. And although this aquarium garden is a concept, the technology is available to make it possible.
