Duolingo is an app for language that's been around for some time, enabling people around the world to learn new languages in a way that's fun and completely free. The gamified system offers a variety of lessons that can be taken at no cost, encouraging users to improve their listening and translation skills.
Now, Duolingo is introducing Bots, which are powered by artificial intelligence and as a result, "react differently to thousands of possible answers." Interactions with Bots unfold as if in natural conversations, with the Bots leading language-focused messenger-style chats on visits to the zoo to identify animals, artist studios to learn about color and more. Best of all, the Bots are able to provide coaching when a user is stuck on coming up with a response.
Currently, the Duolingo Bots are offered in the app's English, German and Spanish programs for the iPhone.
